Six people from the Ederney, Irvinestown and Trillick areas have completed an OCN Level 2 : Introduction to Youth work. All six participants have been volunteering in their parish as Pope John Paul II Parish Award Leaders. The course helps individuals or groups to develop their youth work skills or youth ministry practice. This programme consists of 30 hours of actual tutor /participant contact time.  In addition, participants will be expected to spend a minimum of 20 hours working with young people in a youth work / youth ministry setting over the duration of the course.The programme is a competence-based programme and is assessed through portfolio building and a witness testimony from the candidate’s supervisor.

 

The course was provided by Youthlink and delivered by Jim McDowell who is an experienced Youth Worker from Belfast. Participants will be presented with their certificates at the Youthlink Certificate Presentation evening which takes place on Saturday 12th June at the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh.
