Pilot Parishes Programme
One of the most difficult areas to develop Youth Ministry is at Parish level. Many parishes struggle to involve young people in the life of their community. There is often a will to make young people feel that they belong but it is difficult to find ways of making this happen.

To meet this need Clogher don Óige are supporting six parishes from the diocese to develop youth ministry.

The Parishes were chosen on their ability, interest and willingness to meet certain criteria

4 or more adults interested in working for the development of parish youth ministry.

Open to setting up a Youth Ministry team in the Parish.

Willingness to allow young people to help in the preparation of Youth Liturgies at certain times in the Church calendar.

Open to implementing programmes within the parish in order to increase youth participation.

Participating parishes are:

  • Machaire Rois (Carrickmacross)
  • Cúl Máine (Ederney)
  • Inniskeen
  • Devenish (Irvinestown)
  • Killanny
  • Kilskeery (Trillick)

The initial phase of the pilot programme will see adults from these parishes participating in an introductory training programme that will give them skills and knowledge needed to work with young people in this setting. The training is taking place in 2 centres in St. Mary’s Hall, Irvinestown and Carrickmacorss Workhouse. The trainers are employed by Youthlink and have many years experience working with people in this setting.thumb_IMAG0006
