Eighteen parishes attended the Pope John Paul II Award Leader Training held on 3rd and 5th November. The participants from the 18 parishes will now be able to facilitate and support local young people to complete the Pope John Paul II Award in their parish. Participants were enthusiastic and eager to develop the Pope John Paul II Award in their parish. It was obvious that most parishes not only see a need for parish youth involvement but see many potential benefits to the parish.
The Training focused on 4 main areas
• The role of the Awards leaders in Parish
• Launching the award
– Workshop : Launching the John Paul II Award in parish
• Parish Involvement, Social Awareness & Top-Ups
– Workshop: Developing a parish response to involving youth
• Recording and Reporting on participation.
Each parish received a resource pack with resources, videos and PowerPoint presentations that would help them launch and implement the Award in the parish. Participants also shared ideas on how they would launch the award locally and social awareness and parish involvement activities that can be carried out locally.
The following 18 parishes now have fully trained award leaders
